Doing a SA2B Dark Story run for SDA
« on: June 20, 2006, 12:25:08 am »
So, as the topic suggests, I'm doing a run of the Dark Story for SDA.  It's SS, so I unfortunately won't be able to reset to get good hunting stages *glares at Mad Space*.  Also, since this is SDA timing, any restarts/deaths that I have count against my time.  Here are the times from a practice run I did.

Iron Gate- 2:18.99
Hot Shot- 41.12
Dry Lagoon- 1:19.65
Sand Ocean- 2:39.60 +1.61 +2.46 =2:43.67 (2 deaths)
Radical Highway- 2:05.14 +6.35 =2:11.49 (1 death)
Egg Quarters- 2:14.67
Lost Colony- 2:51.55
Weapons Bed- 1:49.57
Tails 1- 13.74
Security Hall- 1:38.10
Flying Dog- 1:00.85
White Jungle- 1:54.55 (new record for me)
Sonic 1- 23.09 +22.00= 45.09 (1 death which the game COMPLETELY cheated me out of)
Route 280- 3:09.90
Sky Rail- 1:12.24
Egg Golem- 37.22
Mad Space- 3:39.74 (ugh)
Knuckles- 47.05
Cosmic Wall- 5:43.05
Tails 2- 27.62
Final Chase- 3:45.09
Sonic 2- 1:09.72 (ugh)

Some things to remember about this run are that I don't have Hover for Iron Gate and Sand Ocean, making those levels considerably longer (and Sand Ocean inordinately hard).  I have to take the time to pick up the Iron Boots and Pick Nails for Rouge, too, which can take some time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  After looking at your times, I know that Final Chase, Sky Rail, and Cosmic Wall could use serious improvement.

Oh, and if this is the wrong forum for this, sorry.  I'm new.

Hey, I saw this over at SDA. About time somebody took this on.

I was trying to do the Hero story a while ago but gave up due to a) not having tapes and b) not being able to get decent times on hunting levels. However, congratulations for doing so well - as you mentioned though it could still be improved.

Oh, and this is the right forum, I'd say.

Id own that into the ground but I dont feel like it right now.

On seconds thoughts, maybe I do, edit coming up :O

EDIT:

Iron Gate- 2:07:17 (Awesome.)
Hot Shot- 0:23:84 (Good enough)
Dry Lagoon- 2:01:02 (Vomit inducing, frankly, this is awful.)
Sand Ocean- 2:52:64 (Nothing special)
Radical Highway- 2:24:29 (Rubbish, its been too long since I played this level :/)
Egg Quarters- 1:40:69 (First two keys+Pick Nails were great...had trouble finding the last key though >_<)
Lost Colony- 2:40:75 (Should've been much better)
Weapons Bed- 1:40:84 (Bleh)
Tails 1- 0:14:62 (Good enough)
Security Hall-  1:39:24 (Not bad I guess)
Flying Dog- 0:54:82 (Absolutely awful.)
White Jungle- 2:02:35 (...)
Sonic 1- 0:13:42 (Awww....almost 13:37)
Route 280- 2:55:45 (Should've been way better.)
Sky Rail- 1:02:50 (Eurgh.)
Egg Golem- 0:25:60 (Yay)
Mad Space- 1:45:27 (OMGLOLPWN)
Knuckles- 0:21:30 (BAM)
Cosmic Wall- 5:32:34 (Meh)
Tails 2- 0:22:28 (No comment)
Final Chase- 3:10:07 (Not bad)
Sonic 2- 0:39:45 (Sucks, but better than a death.)

TOTAL: 33:54:37

In conclusion: I win and I should tape a better run than this.

Oh man cool! I love SDA so much, and I wouldve attempted a run but have nothing to record it with. And is that single segment? Also I think something for SDA is also just individual levels like it has for some of the other games. But also a single segment would be good.
